About David
David Welch is an award-winning photographer based on the Island of Martha’s Vineyard. Since establishing his commercial studio on the Island in 2005, David has been actively photographing wedding celebrations, family portraits and gatherings, and group events.
In 2015 David was named one of Martha’s Vineyard’s “40 Under 40,” an award for entrepreneurial excellence given by the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce. He is a 2011 graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design from where he earned his MFA in Photography.
He lives in Vineyard Haven with his wife Trina and their two children Camden and Declan and their dog Jules.
Aside from photographing weddings on Martha’s Vineyard, David happily travels throughout New England and beyond. The Photography Studio
Built in 2018, David Welch Photography's climate controlled studio is located in Vineyard Haven. It is available for rental along with a selection of Profoto monolights, Profoto light modifiers, scrims, flags, backdrops and appropriate grip / stands. Twin workstations are available for tethered shooting and are equipped with the latest copies of the Adobe Creative Suite.

"As a bride, finding the perfect photographer to capture our wedding day was one of my first priorities. I knew this would be a struggle when I was researching online and found an immense amount of photographers on Martha’s Vineyard. When we were in contact with David, we immediately knew we wanted him to be a part of our most special day! David proved to be beyond perfect. He is extremely professional, easy to communicate with and most importantly a genuine person who is talented beyond words.
Because we lived in CT, the majority of our communication was through email, text or phone calls. He was quick to respond with creative and unique places to shoot on our wedding day. He was thorough and ensured all of our requests were fulfilled. He even met us at our rehearsal the night before to go over details for our ceremony. Our wedding party couldn’t say nicer words about David. He made everyone feel at ease and was very flexible and fun. "David is truly phenomenal! My husband and I first met him at the Harbor View's New Years Eve party the night we were engaged, and the moment I knew we were getting married on the Vineyard I knew I had to contact David. He responded almost immediately, and remembered us - and said how special it was for him to capture our first photo as an engaged couple. That comment stood out to me, and I knew we had to have David as our photographer! He even suggested doing our first look down at the harbor where we got engaged, an idea I hadn't even considered (it was amazing!) He's creative, talented, and a true pleasure to be around. I spoke to a lot of photographers before deciding on David and I knew the first time I talked to him that he was going to be “the one.” He was incredibly flexible with what we wanted and went through step by step how the day would go. "I contacted David to set up a family portrait session on Martha's Vineyard for my in-laws 45th wedding anniversary. He responded very quickly, had great work to show, friendly response, fantastic reviews and incredible rates! We booked in May for our August vacation. He gave us tips for locations and style and kept in touch as the event approached. On the day he was the nicest easiest person to be around --even with pointing a camera at our faces! I have a 2 year old who was part of the shoot and he worked so well with him- and quickly knowing dinner was approaching for the little one!
