Happy 10th wedding anniversary to Jessica and Michael! I’m shocked at how fast time has gone by since this beautiful Martha’s Vineyard Wedding. Jessica and Michael tied the knot in Edgartown at the Old Whaling Church and afterwards had their wedding reception at the Lambert’s Cove Inn in West Tisbury.
Jessica and Michael were both well established artists and photographers at this point, with gallery representation on the Island as well as Newport and Boston. Admittedly, I was a bit nervous being the photographer tasked with being their wedding photographer. But, according to the couple they were very happy with the outcome of the images, the ultimate compliment considering the source 😊
After exchanging the wedding vows and wedding rings, we went out for a bride groom session around Edgartown and Lambert’s Cove. My favorite location for this wedding was a stop at the Hoft Farm Preserve, a Nature Conservancy property off Lambert’s Cove Road. The field was just waking up for Spring with tall brown and green grasses, winding roads and a bucolic charm not to be missed. The light was perfect for the season and I was thrilled with the way the photos turned out. Just look at how that gorgeous Monique Lhuillier wedding dress as well as the beautifully arranewedding flowers pop in that light!
Searching for fun wedding ideas? I suggest you find a beautiful car (a Mercedes perhaps 😊) to hire for your trip around the island for photos. They make great props.
Here you’ll see I even used a few rolls of kodak tri-x 400 film into my Hasselblad 500cm medium format camera. For those uninitiated with Hasselblad cameras, they’re beautifully crafted cameras with incredible mechanics using Zeiss lenses. In their heyday, were the crème de la crème of film cameras, using medium format film to create beautifully detailed images. Since Jessica is a fine artist with a background in photography, I felt adding this type of photography was necessary. What do you think? As a bride would you find value in your photographer adding some shots on a unique camera?
